King Diamond returned to Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre the night before Halloween as part of “Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920,” his first North American tour since 2019. He brought his typically theatrical, immersive stage show, and his band which still includes original member Andy LaRocque on guitar. Also joining him for this outing is guest vocalist Myrkur, and her 5-year-old son, Otto, made an appearance onstage in Brooklyn, dressed for the season in a skeleton costume.
The setlist, which you can see below, includes two new songs they’ve been playing this tour — “Spider Lilly” and “Electro Therapy” — and LaRocque and bassist Pontus Egberg talked to The Metal Voice about them and King Diamond’s long-anticipated new album. About the latter, LaRoque said, “We are still working on it and as soon as we get back from tour we’re going to have a little Christmas break and then we’re going to pick it up again. So the plan is to have everything done this spring (2025). It will be released shortly after the European summer Festival tour (2025) and all that that’s the plan we have.”
NJ thrash legends Overkill and CA heavy metallers Night Demon (who we unfortunately missed) opened Wednesday night’s show, and you can see pictures by Mathieu Bredeau and attendee-taken video below.
